For the second year in a row, Kirkpatrick Group has made donations to two Pittsburgh-area non-profit organizations focused on helping children and their families receive the tools, education and support they need to build successful futures. We contributed $1,500 to Angels’ Place, a program that offers child care and education to single parents and their children, and $1,500 to Laughlin Children’s Center, a group that provides academic, clinical and therapy services to children from two to 18.
Angels’ Place was founded in 1984 to serve single parents who meet low-income guidelines. At their North Side and Swissvale locations, they provide child care that includes food, diapers, clothing and bedding. To support parents, Angels’ Place holds weekly parent education meetings and connects students with tutoring, coaching and community resources to finish school and find employment. All services are provided at no cost to students and significantly reduced rates to working parents.
Laughlin Children’s Center, based in Sewickley, empowers children to succeed with counseling, tutoring, occupational therapy, speech and dyslexia services. Kirkpatrick Group’s donation specifically helps the financial aid program for families who do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for the services. Through testing, screenings and evaluations, the Laughlin Children’s Center professional staff develops custom plans for treatment and support to help children thrive. They also offer a preschool program, family workshops and summer camps.
At Kirkpatrick Group, many of us are parents ourselves. It is important to us to help nurture the next generation of leaders and world-changers. By helping families receive the support and services they need, we can make a difference in our community and inspire hope for young people with big dreams. We wish you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season. We can’t wait to see what the new year holds.
